Duties of the Biosafety Commission
- The commission is formed by the dean of the faculty and begins its work with the approval of the faculty board.
- Inspects the biosafety practices of laboratories, animal hospitals and other academic/administrative units within the faculty in terms of compliance with current legislation, guidelines and internal directives.
- Determines the scope, method and frequency of inspections; reports the results of the inspections performed and submits them to the dean's office.
- Evaluates the risks that may arise within the scope of biosecurity, determines the precautions to be taken against possible dangerous situations and informs the relevant personnel about this.
- It carries out regular training, seminar and information activities to create biosecurity awareness among faculty staff and students.
- Ensures that the biosafety guide is up-to-date; contributes to the preparation of application procedures that will ensure a safe working environment in laboratory and clinical workflows.
- Follows changes in new technologies, regulations and national/international biosafety standards and shares them with relevant academic and technical staff.
- The commission meets at least twice a year; decisions taken at the meetings are recorded in official minutes, and summary information about the meeting is published on the faculty's website for transparency.
- Commission members continue their duties until a new appointment is made. If one of the members resigns, a new member is appointed by the dean's office.
- Members are required to attend meetings, and those who do not attend without a valid excuse will be subject to evaluation.
