Duties of the Hazardous Waste Commission
- The commission is formed by the dean and begins its duties with the approval of the faculty board. The Dean chairs the Commission when necessary.
- Ensures the preparation and updating of Waste Management Plans for the management of chemical, biological, medical and other hazardous wastes belonging to the Faculty.
- Coordinates the collection, recording, declaration and disposal of waste in accordance with current legislation.
- It archives the waste records and forms received from the units and keeps regular track of them.
- It undertakes the task of providing information, technical support and consultancy to the university's senior management and faculty units on waste management.
- Organizes training and information meetings for the proper management of waste in faculty units.
- Monitors updates to relevant laws, regulations and guidelines, ensuring that changes are implemented throughout the faculty.
- Checks whether faculty units comply with legislation in hazardous waste management processes.
- The commission meets at least twice a year; the decisions taken at the meetings are recorded and summary information is published on the faculty's website.
- Members continue their duties until a new appointment is made; those who resign are replaced by a new appointment made by the dean's office.
- Members are required to attend meetings, and those who do not attend without a valid excuse will be subject to evaluation.
