The 183rd anniversary of Turkish veterinary education was celebrated with a ceremony held at our university's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
The ceremony, held in the Prof. Dr. Mustafa Temizer Conference Hall, was attended by University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İrfan Kaygusuz, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Kazım Şahin, Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons President Cazım Bulut, faculty deans, faculty members, students, and numerous guests.
The program began with a musical performance by Vetakort. In his opening remarks, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Kazım Şahin stated that veterinary medicine is not limited to protecting animal health; it also plays a critical role in many areas, including food safety, public health, preserving the environment and ecological balance, and maintaining biodiversity.
Our university's Vice Rector Prof. Dr. In his speech, İrfan Kaygusuz celebrated the 183rd anniversary of Turkish Veterinary Education, highlighting the contributions of this long-established profession to the scientific development and social welfare of our country. Cazım Bulut, President of the Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons, also delivered a speech on the significance of the day.
The event continued with a lecture titled "Veterinary Education from Past to Present" by Prof. Dr. Cemil Çelik, a faculty member at Maltepe University. The program concluded with the awards ceremony for the winners of the milk race organized by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the presentation of academic degree certificates, and the presentation of plaques to retired faculty members.
