19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day Celebration Message

19 May 1919, when Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk landed in Samsun and lit the torch of independence, is a historical turning point that changed the fate of our nation. Atatürk, who gifted this meaningful day to our youth, entrusted the future of the Republic of Turkey to the determination, resolve and dynamism of the youth.

19 May is not only the beginning of a struggle for independence; it is also a symbol of trust, faith and hope in the youth. We have full faith that our youth will take ownership of this sacred heritage and carry our country to a brighter future.

On this occasion, I remember with mercy and gratitude all our martyrs, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms; I sincerely congratulate our youth and our nation on the 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day.
