The Clinical Skills Laboratory has opened at Fırat University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, allowing students to develop their professional skills during the pre-clinical period.
"Students will be prepared for real-world cases."
Dean Prof. Dr. Kazım Şahin, making a statement on the subject, emphasized that the Clinical Skills Laboratory is one of the most important elements of contemporary veterinary education, stating:
"The Clinical Skills Laboratory will allow our students to acquire fundamental clinical skills in an ethical, safe, and controlled environment before practicing on real animals. Thanks to this laboratory, students will learn basic procedures such as examination, injection, catheterization, dressing, bandaging, suturing, and IV drip administration on simulation models, thus becoming more prepared for clinical training."
Prof. Şahin also stated that such practices comply with EAEVE accreditation standards and will further enhance the quality of education at Fırat University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
Modern infrastructure, innovative educational approach
The Clinical Skills Laboratory; It consists of numerous practice stations, including injections, blood collection, surgical preparation, asepsis and antisepsis, rectal examination, bandaging, and suturing simulations. The laboratory is equipped with modern training models, video-supported systems, and student evaluation areas.
The laboratory's installation was completed in collaboration with the Clinical Education Quality and Compliance Commission and the Clinical Skills Student Community. In this respect, the laboratory offers not only education but also a learning model based on student participation and volunteerism.
"A student-centered and ethics-based approach"
Prof. Dr. Gaffari Türk, Chair of the Clinical Education Quality and Compliance Commission, stated that they aim to instill in students the understanding of "first learn safely, then apply" in the preclinical period. Furthermore, by allowing students to develop their skills in error-free and confident practice, the laboratory will also contribute to the development of ethical sensitivity, teamwork, and professional communication skills in veterinary education.
